Commended Workers

Many people who have attended VEC are now working for various organisations both in the UK and worldwide.  We call these people commended workers. Click on the links below to find out more about them:

James and Christina Baldwin

Working with Impact World TourAfter 10 years serving God through YWAM’s Impact World Tour, James and Christina found themselves living for, and serving God in the USA.

They co-founded an orphanage in Zambia, and helped establish local and US-based friends to run it over two years before pioneering Pakistan Christian School. This Bible-centered education is offered to Christian slaves on the fringes of Faisalabad, Pakistan. Today, there are 72 children who have left slavery for a life of freedom.

They also run a leadership training school in Kansas City, Missouri that equips and develops young professionals to reach their workplaces with year-round discipleship groups and evangelism.
James and Christina (from Sevenoaks, and Sydney, Australia) have 5 children, all born in the USA.

Simeon and Jonina Garrett

Working in Youth With a Mission

Simeon was sent from vec aged 16 to the Philippines and 6 years later he is still serving there and has just married a lovely Filipina Canadian lady they are currently working in Youth With a Mission (YWAM). Serving in a group called the mobile team. Their vision is to reach out to local and rural churches by starting small groups, bringing teachings, doing evangelism and serving the body of Christ in anyway they can. They also have a weekly intercession ministry where they cry out for the nations. They are believing for transformation in this key Asian nation.

Roger and Yvonne Malstead

Working in Turkey

Roger and Yvonne came to VEC about 1983. They are married with four children and twelve grandchildren in the US, UK and India. They have been doing missionary work in Turkey since the early 1960s, starting a Bible Correspondence Course and publishing translations of Christian books, producing DVDs, supporting Turkish Christian workers and also being involved with inductive bible teaching and counselling. They have been the driving force in the making and distribution of the films the Jesus Accounts and Jesus Son of God. and

The Jesus Account film has been translated into 20 languages and the other into 4 languages. Further translations are planned.
