A number of past or present members of our church family have responded to God’s call to serve Him sacrificially elsewhere in the UK or overseas. Some of these people have been recognised by the church family as commended workers, meaning that we are intentional about taking an interest in their vocation and supporting them financially and with prayer and care. SIMEON AND JONINA
Simeon grew up in VEC met his wife Jonina while on mission in the Philippines. They are currently working with Youth With A Mission in Scotland with a vision to see Scots know Christ, local churches encouraged and missionaries trained and sent out into the nations.

“As a child Glenn Tainio heard about foreign missionary work while in Sunday School. He understood its importance, but also wanted to be a ship captain! How could the two ever come together? After he left school, and while serving as an officer cadet on a P&O cruise ship in the South Pacific, he met a crew member of a YWAM mission ship, the crew of which were preaching the gospel while bringing disaster relief to Tonga following a Hurricane. This was at precisely the same time as Glenn was realising he needed to fully commit His life to the Lord.
Kim is originally from South Korea, but from a young age was adopted into a Christian family in the UK. After school, Kim went to art college, but also worked in various jobs, including qualifying in pub management! In the mid-nineties she began serving full time in Christian research, something which would prove useful in her future roles in mission.
